The kids' corner

Small chairs, a cape with dinosaurs on it, and absolutely nobody rushing. Kayla takes children from their very first haircut through the awkward years.

First haircuts

The appointment that decides the next ten years.

A bad first haircut can turn into a decade of dread. We book it as a double appointment so there is time to sit in the chair, touch the clippers, watch someone else go first, and generally decide it is fine.

You go home with photographs and a lock of hair in an envelope. If they are not ready today, we will happily try again another day at no charge.

  • Twelve and under in the kids' corner, at kids' prices
  • First haircuts booked as a full hour, with photos and a keepsake
  • Teen cuts for thirteen to seventeen — a grown-up cut, not a grown-up price
  • Parent and child in the same visit, which is our busiest Saturday booking

Good to know

Questions we get asked

What age do you start?
Whenever they are ready. Kayla does plenty of first haircuts at around one, but there is no right age and no rush.
What if my child will not sit still?
Very normal, and nothing to apologise for. Kayla's appointments have the time built in for a slow start. If it truly is not happening today, we will stop and try again another day at no charge.
Do you do anything special for a first haircut?
Yes. It is booked as a full hour, we take photographs, and you go home with a lock of hair in an envelope.
Can I get my own hair cut in the same visit?
Yes, and most parents do. Book both appointments back to back — Saturday mornings fill up first.
Ready when you are

Book the kids' corner.

Kayla works Wednesday to Sunday, and Saturday mornings are the busiest — book those a week or so ahead.
