Why here

Runway training, Woodside prices.

Nadia Reyes spent fifteen years backstage at New York Fashion Week before opening a salon four stops from where she grew up. The technique came with her; the attitude did not.

That means editorial-grade cutting and color from people who genuinely do this work at the top level — and a kids' corner with a dinosaur cape, a barber room that takes Saturday walk-ins, and a front desk that will tell you when you do not need the expensive thing.

  • A free, no-obligation consultation before any color service
  • Every price on the website, in writing, before you sit down
  • Thirty-minute booking slots, so long services get the time they actually need
  • Five stylists with real specialties — you choose who cuts your hair

The color bar

Color that is planned, not guessed.

Priya Raman paints balayage freehand and builds blondes over several sessions rather than forcing them in one afternoon. Every new color client starts with a free consultation: a strand test, a written quote, and an honest conversation about upkeep.

If a color will cost you more maintenance than you want to give it, she will say so before you book, not after.

The team

Five stylists, five specialties

You book the person, not just the salon. Each stylist keeps their own calendar, their own hours and their own list of services.

Nadia Reyes, Creative Director at Woodside Hair Style Salon
Fashion & Editorial

Nadia Reyes

Nadia opened the salon after fifteen years working backstage at New York Fashion Week, where she learned to build a look that survives a runway, a photo shoot and the walk home. She cuts shape first — the sculptural bobs, blunt fringes and lived-in layers the salon is known for.

What clients tell us

I came in with a picture from a runway show and Nadia told me exactly which part of it would work on my hair and which part would not. That honesty is why I keep coming back.
Editorial client, Long Island City
Marisol did my trial in February and my wedding in September and the hair was identical both times. It survived a first look in the rain and four hours of dancing.
Bride, Sunnyside
My son used to cry about haircuts. Kayla put on a cartoon, took her time, and he now asks when we are going back. Worth the trip from Jackson Heights.

Good to know

Questions we get asked

Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?
Booking online is the surest way to get the stylist and time you want, and the calendar only ever shows slots that are genuinely free. Dominic does keep an eleven-o'clock chair open on Saturdays for walk-ins, but it goes quickly.
How far ahead can I book?
The calendar opens about seventy-five days ahead for most stylists. Bridal is the exception — trials are usually booked several months out, so get in touch as early as you can.
Is there a stylist who is good with nervous children?
Kayla Nguyen runs the kids' corner and takes children from their very first haircut. Appointments there are deliberately unhurried, and plenty of parents get their own cut in the same visit.
Do you color hair on the same visit as a consultation?
For a straightforward gloss or root touch-up, usually yes. For balayage, blonding or any correction we book a free consultation first — a strand test and a written quote — because guessing is how color goes wrong.
Where exactly are you, and is there parking?
We are at 37-28 61st Street, Woodside, NY 11377, two blocks from the 61st Street–Woodside stop on the 7 train and the LIRR platform above it. There is metered parking on 61st Street and free side-street parking a block over.
